Military Modelling is the construction and collection of model individuals, animals or vehicles from either commercially available kits or scratch built. They vary in scale, but are often larger than wargames figures of the same period because they are more detailed, and generally for display purposes. Military Modelling is an absorbing and relaxing hobby, requiring a reasonable amount of skill and patience to assemble and paint the items.

Models can be purchased assemsbled or in kit form. They come in a number of materials, with metal, resin and plastic being the most common. The majority of models are based to an equal standard, and often grouped in dioramas for display. They are typically of a higher standard then wargames figures and models because of their individuality and because they do not usually suffer the same level of wear and tear that wargame figures are subjected to.

Some model vehicles, including ships and aircraft, have motors included to provide power and are radio controlled. There again come in a variety of scales, and are usually more robust than their static counterparts.
