Regional / County
Structure
General feeling was
that given the very low turnout, we would stick with the regional approach
and cover Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Birmingham. This can be
reviewed as numbers increase. Herefordshire and Worcestershire have their own
groups.
2
Autumn Launch Event
Again, attendees
were in favour of a launch event in the Autumn but realised there would be a
lot of work which was not practical with the limited number of members
present.
3
Communication within
the region
Email would be the preferred
method.
AH said he would
post information from UKNDA directly onto his own website www.historicalwarfare.com, unless it was already on the UKNDA site.
It was recognised
that the group had limited and dated understanding of Army and Air Force
matters, but practically no information about the Royal Navy or Royal
Marines. If any recruiting activities were to be done, some way of bringing
members up to date so they could answer questions would be needed.
4
Increasing
membership
This was felt as key
to any forward movement of the group. Given a regional membership of about
100, of whom approx 70 had email invites, 4 attendees was seen as low.
However , the view was taken that things could only get better!
Leaflets are on the
way to AH for future use.
One possible quick
win was to have a stand at the Air Show at Cosford on June 14th.
Given crowds of 20,000 a stand would be a good way of getting the message
across and recruiting new members. AH to investigate practicalities, and
support available from UKNDA.
Generally the
attendees could identify events where it may be possible to go but with
personal commitments this was seen as difficult.
5
Regional Issues
Other than the RAF
base at Cosford and the Military ward at Selly Oak Hospital, Birmingham, no
regional issues were identified.
AH to add links to
website for details of local MPs and newspapers

AOB
If a stand at the
Air Show is practical, another meeting would be needed. Otherwise, bi-monthly
seemed appropriate ie July
