Spitfire Ale, Shepherd Neame's Premium Bitter was first brewed to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain in 1990 and raise money for the RAF Benevolent Fund. Since then, it has done well and I must admit to having a few bottles myself over the last few years.

The Spitfire Ale advertisers seem to have a certain sense of humour, probably described as politically incorrect. In line with John Cleese as Basil Fawlty I think. A while ago a few advert pictures arrived in my inbox. These may or may not be true adverts, but whether they are hoaxes or real rejected adverts, I found them amusing. It also shows, I believe, that time is a great healer.

The Spitfire Ale web site is worth a visit
